Organika Take New York: Fashion Week Adventures Part 2

After the great response we had to our first ‘Organika Take New York Fashion Week‘ post, we are pleased to present you with the second half of our amazing NYFW journey!  In this post we share highlights of styling sessions participated in by Lisa and Sarah in addition to a special Australian runway show from lauded local designers Tome. (PS – next time you need to attain symmetry in makeup or design, try closing one eye!)

Editorial styling on the run – Organika meets NYC style. Trends in hair, makeup and fashion are so global that these looks are as familiar to Elwood or Carlton as they are to the Big Apple.

New takes and techniques on classic styles – like this megawatt amplified chignon. An exploded version of Jacki-O style that would certainly suit your upcoming raceday events.

Wetlook beehives with graphic ‘square’ shapes and Bo Derek sex-on-the-beach dirty curls. Summer in Melbourne, here we come.

Organika Hair were pleased to be part of Tome’s Spring 2014 Ready-to-Wear debut at New York Fashion Week. The fledgling two-year old brand from Australian designers Ryan Lobo and Ramon Martin  create collections based around iconic women. Their Spring’14 collection is inspired by muse Cuban performance artist Ana Mendieta telling Broadsheet that “When we pick an inspirational woman for the season, she usually comes to us rather than us seeking her out…. she is articulated in clothing with complete reverence. We do not take these women lightly. We begin with a woman’s life and her output and the collection grows from this.” The runway show was more of a static art installation, rich with ‘earth women’ in evanescent tones of pink, mauve, sand and taupe. Positively reviewed, Style.com said that Tome’s collection was ‘made up of real clothes …. just like the women Lobo and Martin intend to wear them’.

Tome have a bright future ahead of them, nominated as CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Finalists. To see more of their runway collection, click here.
